Why have we included some copyrighted material in our resources?
Where possible, we create lesson planning and teaching resources for the classroom without copyrighted material. This is so they are quick and easy to access on our website.
For some subjects, such as English, we've decided that including copyrighted material to provide high-quality, national curriculum aligned resources is essential.
You’ll need to sign in to view, download or stream some copyrighted content because our licence agreements allow us to share this content only with users in the UK and under certain access conditions.
Our resources will always be free so you don't have to worry about being charged.
Signing in is just a small step to ensure we all keep within the rules. Once you have access, you can use copyrighted materials in exactly the same way as our other resources. See our help article: How to use our resources to plan and teach great lessons.
How do I sign in to access resources containing copyrighted material?
Units, lessons and video and audio clips
Where we have used copyrighted material this is clearly marked.
- Units
If you navigate to a unit containing copyrighted material, you will see a message at the top of the page.
Not all lessons in a unit may contain copyrighted material but where they do you can see which ones they are on the lesson page.
- Lessons
If you navigate to a lesson which contains copyrighted material, you will see a copyright message underneath the misconceptions.
- Video and audio clips
If the lesson contains copyrighted video and/or audio clips, you will see a copyright message when you go to access them.
You will need to sign in to access video and audio clips even if you are accessing them from a link in a downloaded slide deck. Please note video and audio clips cannot be downloaded directly.

FAQs
What happens if I want to view, download or stream copyrighted material again?
Once signed in, you will stay signed in on your device for 7 days. After this you will need to sign in again to view, download or stream copyrighted material.
Why can't I verify my email address?
You may get an error message when you try and verify your email address. This is usually because you are using a different device and/or browser to verify your email address than the one you started the sign in process on.
If you are having trouble with the sign in process please contact support@thenational.academy.
