Introduction

Welcome to Oak National Academy. You might have met us during the pandemic when we provided thousands of online lessons to help teachers keep pupils learning at home during school closures.

Since then, thousands of teachers continue to visit Oak each week to access and download the slide decks, worksheets and quizzes that make up those lessons, to use for their lesson planning.

We've now become an independent public body and are delighted to be able to continue to support you for years to come. We're here to support you to teach, and your pupils' to access a high-quality curriculum. We continue to provide free access to thousands of adaptable lesson planning and teaching resources and share inspiration, and best-practice advice on curriculum design.

Our curriculum plans

We have sequenced our units and lessons in interactive curriculum plans so you can see a suggestion of how our resources can be delivered in sequence. This is only a suggestion though! We know that teachers know their school and pupils best so sequences can be adapted as needed.

Explore our interactive curriculum plans to:

  • View the full sequence and lessons we have teaching resources for
  • See an explainer of each curriculum, so you can understand the thinking, structure and focus behind the plan to inspire your own approach
  • Download the plan, including a national curriculum alignment document explaining how our curriculum aligns to the national curriculum
  • See how our threads weave their way through our curriculum so you can see common themes running through key stages in the subject.
  • See the unit descriptions with a 'why this, why now' and 'prior knowledge requirements' to help you consider the sequence of your current planning.
  • Move easily from units to lessons to understand lesson outcomes, helping you connect curriculum intent with classroom delivery.

Go to our curricula page to find out about the principles that underpin our curricula.

Get started now with our lesson planning page. You can learn more about our resources and how to use them to support your lesson planning.

Our pupil area

You may want your class to use our pupil area for homework or revision, to support them if they are absent or for when there is disruption such as bad weather. Whatever the reason, we know that pupils’ needs are very different to the needs of a teacher so we’ve designed this part of our website just for them.

Every national curriculum lesson from KS1 - 4 that is available in your teacher area is also available in our pupil area.

Pupils will be taken through a lesson by giving them an introduction in a lesson overview page, a downloadable worksheet, a prior knowledge starter quiz, a lesson video and an assessment exit quiz.

Results of the lesson can be shared with you afterwards.

Our AI tools

We made Aila, our AI lesson assistant, to give you the power to create lesson plans and resources tailored specifically for your pupils in minutes, saving you valuable time to focus on bringing the lesson to life and supporting pupils.

Use Aila to quickly adapt Oak lesson resources for your class and context or create something you need that is not included in the lesson planning and teaching resources we already have.
